In honor of Women’s International Day, I had a unique opportunity to participate in the NYC mentoring walk on The Highline in partnership between Vital Voices and Diane von Furstenberg.
If you haven’t heard of Vital Voices, it is an incredible non-profit organization that works with women leaders on many initiatives to create positive change in communities globally. You can learn more about all of the amazing work they are doing here.
After the walk concluded we gathered at the DVF Studio in Meatpacking for photo ops, food and a panel discussion that was awe inspiring and empowering.
These are key messages shared on this special day:
You are not a victim.
·Success usually comes from adversity.
We all have a voice and the ability to help others. Even if just one person.
Even if you don’t like the situation you are in. Figure out what you can learn while you are there.
Purpose comes when you use your gifts/talents to help someone else.
Feminism is about moving forward as a society.
As women, we need to support other women.
