HEART OF GRATITUDE
As I begin writing, I can hardly believe it is that time of year already. Thanksgiving is tomorrow... I mean, where did 2017 go!?
Food aside, this holiday reminds us to acknowledge all that we have to be thankful for but, do you cultivate gratitude in your everyday life?
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t practice it as often as I should. However, when I do, it truly allows me to take the focus off of what I deem to be a bad day or something that I may be feeling down about and channel that focus into positive thoughts. It is so easy to get caught up in our everyday routines and complain or nit-pick about anything and everything that we believe is going wrong. It could pertain to a situation at work to a relationship or even things about one’s self. There are days after days when it seems that nothing is right and it can leave you feeling overwhelmed and at times, alone. We have all been there. But, research has shown that people who practice gratitude are more optimistic, happier, have stronger relationships and have fewer symptoms of illness than those who do not. On that note, I plan to dedicate time, even if just a few seconds, every day to express gratefulness. Today, I am grateful for this four-day weekend coming up. Real. Real. Real.
What are you grateful for?
